Douglas Liepert, M.D.
Douglas Liepert, M.D. earned his medical degree at Queen's University in Canada and completed his residency in otolaryngology at the University of Alberta in Canada. Dr. Liepert is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Canada and is board-certified in sleep medicine. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery.

Dr. Liepert practices all aspects of general otolaryngology and with all ages but has a special interest in pediatric patients and pediatric airway, sleep medicine and surgery, sinus surgery including image guidance of the anterior scull base and hearing restoration including BAHA bone anchored hearing devises.

Dr. Liepert, his wife and son have moved to the Howard area where they look forward to being involved with the community and youth ministry. In his spare time he likes to hunt, fish and run his two dogs.

Robert Sonnenburg, Jr., M.D.
Robert Sonnenburg, Jr., M.D. is a board-certified Otolaryngologist. He sees both adults and children, carefully listens to patients and provides treatment explanations in understandable language. He is interested in chronic sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, obstructive sleep apnea and thyroid cancer with special interests in endoscopic sinus surgery and thyroid surgery.

Dr. Sonnenburg obtained his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He then attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he received numerous honors including the prestigious Millman Award. He completed residency training at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, during that time he published articles on the topics of revision sinus surgery and skull base surgery. Since starting practice Dr. Sonnenburg completed training and has become a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy and also has become a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Sonnenburg, his wife, son and three daughters live in Peshtigo. A family man at heart, he enjoys participating in his children's activities at school and church.

Katie Benson, MSN, ANP-C
Katie Benson, MSN, ANP-C is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner and has been practicing in the area since 1998. Katie, a native of Marinette, performs a variety of ENT services treating acute and chronic illnesses with a focus on allergies, asthma and sleep disorders.

Katie obtained undergraduate Bachelor of Science degrees in Communicative Disorders and Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After two years working as a BSN in Freeport, Illinois, Katie returned to UW-Madison to earn her Masters Degree as a Nurse Practitioner. While in graduate school, Katie was awarded the Rural Practice Scholarship Award and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honors Society.

Katie, her husband and three children live in Marinette. She is active with her area Catholic schools, an avid runner and youth volleyball coach.

Laurie Biehl, LPN
Laurie Biehl, LPN graduated Phi Theta Kappa from Bay de Noc Community College in 1997 were she obtained a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree. Laurie began with the Northern Lights Clinic in November of 1999 as an ENT nurse and transitioned into the lead Allergy nurse in August of 2003.

She has attended annual conferences in Washington D.C., Denver and New York City in both the ENT and Allergy specialties. She also attended the Basic Course in Otolaryngic Allergy and Immunology in Boston, and Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and the Advanced Allergy Course in Lake Tahoe, California.


Laurie and her husband reside in Porterfield along with their three dogs, Peanut, Nicholas, and Reagen.

Barb Bowman, MT(ACSP)
Barb Bowman, MT(ACSP) obtained a Bachelors Degree from College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota in 1997. She double majored in Biology and Clinical Laboratory Science, and minored in Chemistry. Barb is a Certified Medical Technologist through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. She also attended the Basic Course in Otolaryngic Allergy and Immunology in Boston and Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

Barb and her husband reside in Porterfield.
